2nd Annual Wasatch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament

Come out and support the Bernales Institute of Martial Arts Dragons and Junior Dragons! We are co-hosting, along with Unified Jiu Jitsu, the 2nd Annual Wasatch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Youth Tournament on Saturday, October 8, 2011. The tournament will be held in the Payne Gym at Westminster College, Salt Lake City UT. Weigh-ins at 8:30 am, tourney starts at 10 am. 1st Annual Wasatch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Youth Tournament

Thank you to all our Junior Dragons and Dragons students for their AWESOME performance at the 1st Annual Wasatch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Youth Tournament on October 9, 2010!!! Bernales Institute was proud to co-sponsor this event along with Unified Jiu Jitsu, and it turned out to be a great success. Seminar CANCELLED

Unfortunately, we have had to CANCEL the seminar with Guro Dan Inosanto, which was originally scheduled to take place June 5 and 6 in Salt Lake City, Utah. We are very sorry about the inconvenience and hope to be able to host Guro Dan soon!

Dan Reilly takes second place at the Pan Am Championships!

Congratulations to Dan Reilly (left), who took 2nd place overall in the Blue Belt Senior 1 Middle Weight Division at the Pan Jiu-jitsu Championships 2009 last weekend in California. Dan started training at Bernales Institute in 2007, and since that time has won a Gold Medal in the White Masters Middleweight Division at the World Jiu-jitsu Championship 2008, and took third place last year in the White Masters Middleweight Division at the Pan Ams 2008. What amazing accomplishments!

Throwdown Championship Challenge 2009

Congratulations to Blade Yoshio Saiki, student in our Junior Dragons program, for his spectacular second place win in the Kids Advanced Fly Weight Division at the Champion Submission Challenge held at Throwdown ETC on March 28, 2009!

West Side Classic Youth Jiu-Jitsu Tournament

Congratulations Team! We had 11 students compete in the West Side Classic Youth Jiu-Jitsu Tournament held at Ogden High on February 7, 2009. Everyone did an awesome job and had a great time! Our two littlest Junior Dragons, Lilly Wray and Blade Saiki, did exceptionally well, each winning several medals in multiple categories! It was a great showing for the Bernales Institute team, both in terms of tournament participation and parent/family/friend/student spectator support. Thank you to everyone who turned out for this fun event!
